Blogger (www.blogger.com) is a free publishing platform owned by the giant company Google. A publishing platform means a comprehensive tool to publish articles and web-pages in a domain / website. Therefore, users don’t have to use the old school file transfer protocol (FTP) to run their websites, the platform takes care of everything.

This platform does not have to be used with Blogspot, it can also be used with any other custom domain (such as http://www.yourname.com). The system is similar to Worpress.ORG: free publishing platform.

Blogspot (www.blogspot.com) is a free domain service provider owned by the same giant: Google. The free domain provided is actually a sub domain (like example.blogspot.com). This company is to support Blogger in delivering free blogging service.

In summary, Blogger is a free publishing platform, while Blogspot is a free domain service provider. Blogspot have to be used with Blogger, but Blogger doesn’t have to be used with Blogspot. However, both are designed to work together in providing free blogging experience for their users.

Why Set Goals ?

Goals, life, Why Set Goals

settinggoals

Goal setting is used by top-level athletes, successful business-people and achievers in all fields. Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation . It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.

By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you’ll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. You will also raise your self-confidence , as you recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you’ve set.

Starting to Set Personal Goals

You set your goals on a number of levels:

2014-2

  1. First you create your “big picture” of what you want to do with your life (or over, say, the next 10 years), and identify the large-scale goals that you want to achieve.
  2. goal-setting-success[5]

  3. Then, you break these down into the smaller and smaller targets that you must hit to reach your lifetime goals.
  4. creating-marketing-goals

  5. Finally, once you have your plan, you start working on it to achieve these goals.
  6. shapeimage_3

This is why we start the process of goal setting by looking at your lifetime goals. Then, we work down to the things that you can do in, say, the next five years, then next year, next month, next week, and today, to start moving towards them.

Page Templates

Pages are one of WordPress’s built-in Post Types. You’ll probably want most of your website Pages to look about the same. Sometimes, though, you may need a specific Page, or a group of Pages, to display or behave differently. This is easily accomplished with Page Templates.

Selecting a Page Template

Screenshot of Page Attributes module with Template select options pulled down

Your Theme files should include a default page template (named: page.php). Your Theme may also have one or more custom page templates, for instance, to display content in wider columns. Or you may have created a custom template of your own.

Edit Page Screen: You can assign a custom template for any individual Page by using the Template dropdown in the Edit Page screen (part of the Page Attributes module):

  1. Select a Template from the list (e.g., My Custom Page).
  2. Click the Update button (or Save Draft if not yet published).

Why is Family So Important ?

Family is important, Why is Family

Family is important because these people are your history and future. They are the only people related to you by blood. Society values family because they are always there for one another and assist whenever one family member needs help. It brings joy to people’s lives and gives them something important and special to live for. Love is important for everyone to have, and family is always there to love.

Safety Needs: The feeling of fear is present in every human, all of us need to feel secure, security is important for the smooth running of our life. A family provides one that security. The number or the strength of family members does not matter, a nuclear family or even a joint family gives you a feeling of being safe. This is because you know that your family will stand by you, no matter what. You don’t have to fight on your own against anything alone, this feeling helps in the progress of human being as he does not need to be worried about his safety. Safety also refers to the safety of morals, property, and employment.

Psychological Needs: Just as the basic needs, a human also has many psychological needs. The fulfillment of those needs is necessary for the mental and physical being. So what are those needs? Well, everybody needs affection, appreciation, a sense of belonging, love, etc. A family relationship provides you with all these things, without you demanding for it. It not only gives you love, but also boosts your confidence from time to time. It teaches you the morals and principles of the society, in a way, it teaches you how to survive in the outside world.

Other Reasons: Being a social animal, that we are, we need company. Though we like to spend time alone, we cannot live happily alone, forever. Family provides us with reasons to laugh, cry and think about. A family provides one with reasons to live life. Family members are the only people who feel genuinely for you, they are the only people who really care for you. The best part of a family, they keep on giving you, without expecting anything in return. Your friends or even your beloved will expect you to care, love for him, but family won’t expect this. No doubt they will feel bad, they might even complaint about your cold-blooded nature, but they won’t stop loving and caring for you!

Always remember that the goodness in you, is due to your family. It is this unit of the society that you can turn to, even if you have done something grave, something wrong. You are a part of it, be happy that are lucky enough to have a family!

Repressing the American Dream

25 Saturday Jan 2014

David Boles, Blogs

There’s a new living meme I’ve been closely watching as it achingly creeps into an everyday reality because of economic compression and the new relativism of the repression of the American Dream for a growing generation of born scavengers.

I’ve been cautiously observing the new momentum of young people moving out of big cities and into small, rural, villages — or their parent’s basement — where the rent is cheap, the food is affordable, and the quality of life is quiet and unsubstantial.

At a time when these young people should be at their maximum earning potential, they are instead in “retirement mode” and collecting welfare subsidies and banking the goodwill of the generation ahead of them.  When it comes time for them to pay back the deed, they will be able to do so because they were never in the earnings game in the first place.

Republic-Day-of-India-2014-Images26-January-2014-HD-wallpaper

Respected Correspondent, Principal, teachers, parents, and dear brothers and sisters of my country, I would like to wish you all Happy Republic Day 2014. It has been my Privilege that I got an opportunity to speak in front of you all on this occasion. It has been 64 years from the day our constitution came into effect. In these 64 years our country has gone through a long journey of changes. I am going through some light on the history of our country.

Before 1600 AD we were living a peaceful life, although there were some disputes between some states but it was not bothering normal citizens at all. But when in 1600, East India company came into India, things started changing. Slowly they started taking their grips to the steering of our country and till 1800 we were completely in control of British Government.

In 1857 some real patriots stood up for the country and started a revolution against the British Raj. After a very long time and different-different revolution at several places, finally we became free on 15th August, 1947. Then some rules and regulations were required to drive the country. So a committee was organized, which was given the work of writing the constitution for India.
After the constitution was ready it came into effect from 26th January 1950, since then every year we remind that auspicious day and celebrate it as our Republic day. This day is called, because India became a republic country from this day.

Happy-Republic-Day-26-January-2014

When we became republic country, things started changing. The command of country was in the people of the country. Elections were started and people selected their representatives. For sure we have done a lot of improvements after becoming republic but many problems like corruption and unemployment has grown up rapidly. So we need to find the solution for these problems, only then our country can become the best place on earth to live.

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!!

5 Reflections about Rekindling Friendships

23 Thursday Jan 2014

A Mint Life

Some say that the two hardest parts of a friendship are the hello and the goodbye. Most people understand that ending friendships can be negative, so shouldn’t ‘hello’ moments be the opposite of that?

Not necessarily. I used to dread the ‘hello’ moments back in high school. Of course, I yearned to make friends. In fact, I envied people who could establish friendships so easily. And even though the thought of making more friendships seemed like a pretty good idea, it always felt less than natural to me.

Here I make a paradoxical statement: despite feeling uncomfortable making friends, I did have friends in high school. In fact, I had awesome friends. It has now been another four years since then. I still feel anxious with the ‘hello’ moments, but I’ve realized that many of my buddies consider me to be rather extroverted. Did something change in my personality that…

Blogging is More Important Today than Ever Before

Blogging is More Important

Guest-blogging

Blogging—which first started to take off in the latter half of the 1990s—was initially used to provide a unique way for people to share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and opinions.

Today, however, everyone from Fortune 500 companies to mom-and-pop shops are utilizing blogging (in addition to other digital reach methods) to increase their digital presence and inevitably increase their bottom line.

In fact, if your business’s website does not have a blog (or “learning center”) that is actively updated on a regular basis, then you are missing a huge opportunity to increase your company’s visibility and therefore increase your digital reach—your potential client base and your bottom line.

Blogging Matters—Just Ask Google

blogging

In today’s internet-based society, your business has to have a powerful online presence in order to stand out among your competitors. When someone goes to search for a professional or business in your industry, you want your name to come up close to the top of the list. How do you do that? With effective search engine optimization.

In the past companies like Google put an emphasis on keywords—which words that you were using to market your business and how often those words appeared on your website. As technology has evolved, Google (and other search engines) are using advanced formulas that determine how frequently you post and update your website in addition to the origination and quality of the content you post.

What does this have to do with blogging? Everything in the world.

There is not a better way to add relevant content to your website on a regular basis than to utilize a blog. If you do not want to call it a blog, you can call it a “learning center” or any other catchphrase that you want to use to categorize the frequent posts to your website—at the end of the day they are blogs and these blogs are powerful.

Where you rank in search engines matter. One of the most effective ways to increase your search engine rankings is to add unique, high quality content on a regular basis—to blog.

Need Blogging? Hire a Professional

the-ultimate-guide-to-get-more-blog-subscribers

There are some great advantages to hiring a professional to take your blogging and online presence to the next level.

First and foremost, professionals often know how to utilize words to capture your audience—to take what you want to say and improve the influence that these words have on your readers.

Second, the right professional will understand that blogging is an aspect of digital reach but in and of itself is not enough. These blogs also need to be posted on external websites for SEO (which will be even more important in the future) and should be combined with other digital reach efforts including digital PR and marketing.

Third, it saves you time. Hiring a professional will allow you to spend your time focusing on your company’s goals and visions—allowing you to propel your business into the future.

However it is important to note that even if you hire a professional blogger, it’s important to understand that you must play an integral role in educating the blogger on your industry, why you do what you do, the services and products that you have to offer, and be willing to play your role in the process. At the end of the day, digital reach—social media and beyond—is a company-wide endeavor.

Happiness is a Choice, So Choose It!

20 Monday Jan 2014

happiness

There are some people who seem to think that happiness is the result of all the right wheels turning at just the right time. You’re walking down the street, find twenty dollars, get a compliment from a stranger, meet the perfect guy or girl (and don’t totally make a fool of yourself), go to your favorite store and get 50% off, etc., etc.

It’s easy to be happy when everything seems to be going your way, but I think that defining happiness that way reduces it to a by-product of luck, or an accident, which it is not. In fact, I might even argue that luck is a byproduct of happiness, if I was in a particularly feisty mood.

Happiness doesn’t just happen.

happiness-wallpaper

Some days are good, but there are probably more days that are just mediocre or plain bad, and it’s on those days that the true nature of happiness is revealed. Have you ever met someone who stayed positive, even when they’re having a bad day, and everything that can go wrong seems to be going wrong? If you’re having a bad day, too, just being near someone like that can be uplifting (although for others it is annoying, but that usually just stems from jealousy).

People who are able to smile even through the worst of times have learned a very important lesson, the same lesson I stated above: Happiness doesn’t just happen.

Happiness is choice.

That’s right, a choice. Not an accident, not a charitable gift from the universe. Of course, it’s nice to receive those gifts, and easy to be happy when you do, but happiness is about choosing to see the adventure in every moment, choosing to understand that there will always be a light after the dark, that there is always good in every situation and every person, no matter how grim things may seem.

That’s the key to happiness: choosing it. It’s not an easy choice all the time, and it very well may be the last thing you want to do sometimes. When grief strikes, or when you just can’t seem to catch a break, sometimes you just want to sulk and stay upset, perpetuate the sadness. It’s a natural response, but it isn’t a required behavior, it’s a choice. And choosing to be happy will make you a better, stronger, wiser, more longsuffering person.

We always have the choice to be happy. Learning to change our attitude is frustrating, but worth it in the end. When we choose to be happy, things tend to work in our favor, and luck seems to be on our side; and even if things don’t happen the way you want them to, if you choose to be happy, you can accept situations for what they are and make the most of life, no matter the hand it deals you.

How BuddyPress Works

18 Saturday Jan 2014

When BuddyPress is installed on WordPress Multisite the only site on your network that uses a BuddyPress theme is the main site because it’s required to support all the different BuddyPress social features.

Your members socially interact with each other via the social features using the BuddyPresss theme. All other sites on your network use a standard WordPress theme.

The BuddyPress Theme

Your BuddyPress theme is where you build the community on your network.

It provides the pages that support the different BuddyPress social features including members profiles, blog lists, friends lists, private messaging, activity streams, groups, group forums, and more.

This is where you transform your network for your niche area into a thriving community by adding widgets, enabling/disabling social features and customizing your BuddyPress theme!

buddypress61

The Toolbar

When you install BuddyPress it adds the BuddyPress features to the standard WordPress toolbar. This allows logged in users to access their BuddyPress features from the toolbar at the top of every site and dashboard on your network.

The toolbar is used by members to access:

1. Their WordPress blogging tools

toolbar61

2. Their BuddyPress social features

When you hover your mouse over Howdy, User, this expands to link you to your Profile Screen as well as a Log Out link and your BuddyPress social features.

Blogging On A BuddyPress Network

One of Ning’s worst features is blog post functionality:

  • Only members of a Ning community can comment on Ning blog posts
  • Blog posts are posted on the Ning network and not their own blog

BuddyPress doesn’t have Ning’s blogging limitations as it’s a multi-blogging platform environment integrated with a fully functional social network platform.

interactionbuddy

Blog posts are posted on a member’s site(s) — just like posts are published on any WordPress site.

BuddyPress aggregates all the members’ post content pulling them onto the main site and providing the other social features so members can easily connect, communicate, collaborate and create with each other.
